We run from silence in our minds and in our daily activities. Why do we feel the need to fill the silence with sound? With the practices of going “inward” and finding tranquility, our thoughts become the soothing sound to minimize silence. And bringing the awareness to the breath brings the mind into safety with the sound of the breath. Many of us have a love-hate relationship with silence even as we seek silence in our souls. We will expose silence. We will experience the joy of silence without the creeping anxiety to fill the silence void. We will practice exploring silence in different circumstances and learn that silence can feel safe, secure, and provide a foundation for a response rather than a reaction.
